Vaccines Congress 2013 Held in CDO

January 27 , 2013 – 500 Doctors from around the country gathered at the Pryce Plaza Hotel for the Vaccines Congress 2013 with the theme Evolving Technology. Expanding Coverage. Protecting The Next Generation. One of the very important topic discussed in the congress was the Rotavirus the most common cause of severe diarrhea among infants and young children.

Coach to the stars like Piolo Pascual and the Zobel de Ayalas and marathon master Coach Rio joined the summit in support to the Human Race Against Rotavirus campaign. He represent the human race against the dreaded disease.

Rotavirus-related gastroenteritis is claiming at least 13 lives of innocent Children everyday, ages 5 years old and below.

With the reduction of child mortality as part of the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) set by the United Nations, saving children from rotavirus-related deaths counts among the most important missions countries must take –especially as this disease is highly preventable through vaccination/ The World Health Organization’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) recommends that rotavirus vaccines be included in all national immunization programs, particularly in countries where diarrhea-related deaths account for more than 10% deaths in children younger than 5 years.
