Kagay-an Festival 2011: Annual Pyro Festival

Kagay-anons are again treated to a spectacular display of fireworks last August 26, 2011 at the SM City Cagayan de Oro. The event is part of the Kagay-an 2011 celebration and has become an annual competition. This year, the contingents from Manila, Bulacan, Cebu, Iligan, Bohol and Cagayan de Oro City showcased entertaining fireworks wowing the spectators who went their way up to the venue to witness the festival notwithstanding the traffic going there and of course going home.

The contingents are judged with its Beauty Quality – 25%, Uniqueness and Style – 25%, Originality – 25% and Audience Impact – 25%. Grand Winner will receive 80, 000, 60,000 for the second place and 40,000 for third place. A consolation of 20,000 for those who didn’t place. Dumaguete bagged the first prize while Bulacan and Iligan took home the 2nd and third prize respectively.

Zamboanga Sibugay Folkloric Street Dance winning Performance

Watch Zamboanga Sibugay perform during the Kagay-an Festival 2011 Folkloric Street Dance competition at the Pelaez Sports Center Cagayan de Oro City.

All the contingents showed off the Human Float or “Plowtawo” that constitutes 50 percent of the overall grade and the “Showdance” that constitutes the other 50 percent.

Please do not be confused, as the display shows Tribu Bugohanon during the earlier part of the performance. I just recorded this via ABS-CBN’s live coverage so this is the best I can present you with so you can as witness their winning performance at least. Enjoy!

Kagay-an Festival 2011: Float Competition Winner

A quick glimpse of the winning Float for this year’s Float competition. This is the second win of Synnex Concentrix. As the largest call center in Cagayan de Oro to date, Concentrix is inspired to show something that will encourage investors to put their money in the City while showing as well its culture and 2 of the trademarks CDO is known for, the Ostrich and the Pineapple. One catching part of the float is the tagline that says “Invest, Enjoy and Stay in CDO” . Concentrix received 150,000 plus trophy as the grand prize winner.
