Cadayunan Primary School Christmas Outreach 2011

December 2, 2011 – The BIG DAY for the CDOBloggers as it’s the most awaited christmas outreach, gift giving and feeding activity day we all been waiting for. The benefactor – Besigan Sitio 14’s Cadayunan Primary School. Thanks to the project chair Roxanne Hambre for finding a school worthy of our little help, time and effort.

Besigan is the last town of Cagayan de Oro City, approximately 2 hours travel from the city. The CDOBloggers reached Sitio 14 through a Dump Truck provided by the City Government. We learned from the residents in Besigan and neighboring towns that the truck is their regular transportation from their place to the city (back and forth). An important means that aids the residents source of living as it carries their crops, vegetables and business to the city. Getting to Cadayunan Primary School was not an easy ride. It was like participating in an off-road challenge. We salute the driver of the said truck for hurdling such unfriendly road and curves. We were at the back with these 3 barrels of Crude Oil we had to hold and push everytime there’s a rocky and uphill road we had to go through. Hard but we were laughing while we were on it.

First Flash Mob in CDO

Flash mob-a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and sometimes seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, artistic expression.

How Does It Work?
Flash Mobs are initiated online. The organizers set up a website, mailing list, and/or a viral message that provides all necessary instructions for potential participants. This of course includes the date, time, and meeting point in the real world, as well as the action to perform, for example a video of the dance moves.

On October 28, 2011, Cagayan de Oro had its first ever flash mob through the efforts of a group called CDO Tycoons. The participants gathered at SM City where they surprised the shoppers and mall goers with the sudden performance at the Atrium.

This won’t be the last as I heard another Flash Mob happening soon! This time it’s going to be a Pre-Christmas Flash Mob. Chadacdo is surely looking forward to it.

Christmas in November with Globe

A big shout out to Globe Telecom Inc. for giving their media partners in Cagayan de Oro an early Christmas Party and freebies. They were able to gather Cagayan de Oro’s media from print, broadcast, tv and the new media the bloggers. Chadacdo of course attended the event together with the CDOBloggers.

The party was held at the Mallberry Suites last November 23, 2011. Globe shared their 3rd Quarter Business Results and Network Modernization Initiative for 2012. That was our first time to join such a party with all the other media in Cagayan de Oro. Personally we thought that was a great opportunity for us all to meet and greet. Globe Telecom didn’t fail to feel the media people relevant and of course happy. They were just so generous that they gave away noche buena goodies, a Nokia X2, an IPhone 3gs and an IPad worth 40T! There were also minor prizes like load cards along with some globe useful items. We love the mini games especially the trivia part! CDOBloggers sucked at “Philippine Entertainment – past love teams” category! LoL! but we were still able to finish third at the end of the game.
